Salt Rock's tidal pool is the coast's best known — a natural, sea-fed pool set against dark volcanic rock, filled and refreshed by the tide, and calm enough for swimmers of all ages. It's the single most photographed natural feature on the Dolphin Coast outside of Umhlanga's lighthouse.
Unlike the more secluded Shaka's Rock just to the south, Salt Rock has a small but genuine selection of restaurants and shops, making it easy to spend a full day here without needing to drive elsewhere.
